24 Nigerian-born Young Scholars Liberated Over a Week Post Kidnapping

Approximately twenty-four Nigerian female students taken hostage from a learning facility more than seven days back have been released, national leadership stated.

Gunmen invaded an educational institution in Nigeria's local province on 17 November, taking the life of an employee while capturing 25 students.

Nigerian President government leadership commended security forces regarding their "quick action" following the event - despite the fact that specific details of the girls' release remained unclear.

West Africa's dominant power has suffered multiple incidents of kidnappings over the past few years - amounting to numerous students abducted from a Catholic school recently still missing.

In a statement, a special adviser of the administration verified that every student abducted from the school in Kebbi State had returned safely, mentioning that the occurrence sparked copycat kidnappings within additional local territories.

National leadership stated that more personnel are being positioned to "vulnerable areas to stop more cases involving abductions".

In a separate post on X, the president stated: "Aerial forces will continue constant observation throughout isolated territories, aligning missions alongside land forces to properly detect, isolate, disrupt, and neutralise any dangerous presence."

More than fifteen hundred students were taken hostage from educational institutions since 2014, during which two hundred seventy-six students were abducted during the infamous large-scale kidnapping.

Recently, at least 300 children and staff were abducted from St Mary's School, faith-based academy, located within regional territory.

Several dozen people taken from learning institution have since escaped based on information from the Christian Association - but at least 250 remain unaccounted for.

The leading church official within the area has stated that the administration is performing "insufficient measures" to recover the unaccounted individuals.

The abduction at the institution marked the third instance to hit Nigeria in a week, pressuring President Bola Tinubu to cancel travel plans to the G20 summit taking place in the southern nation days ago to deal with the emergency.

International education official the diplomat called on the international community to try everything possible" to support efforts to recover kidnapped youths.

The representative, ex-British leader, stated: "The duty falls upon us to ensure that Nigerian schools are safe spaces for education, not spaces where children could be removed from their classroom through unlawful means."
