Alarming Number of Users Now Use E-Cigarettes, States Global Health Body
More than 100 million individuals, comprising at least 15 million minors, now utilize e-cigarettes, driving a recent trend of nicotine dependency, as stated by current international health findings.

"Millions of individuals are ceasing, or avoiding tobacco consumption because of tobacco regulation measures by nations throughout the world," he said.
"As an answer to this strong advancement, the tobacco industry is fighting back with novel nicotine items, actively aiming at youth. Governments must respond quicker and more vigorously in applying established tobacco-control measures," he continued.
The vaping figures are a projection since some states - 109 in sum, and several in Africa and Asian regions - lack data.
Based on the study, as of recent February this period, at least 86 million e-cigarette consumers were grown-ups, primarily in wealthy nations.
And at bare minimum 15 million youth between the ages of 13 and 15 currently engage in vaping, per studies from 123 states.
Although many countries have tried to introduce e-cigarette rules to tackle youth vaping in recent years, by the end of 2024, 62 states yet had no regulation in effect, and 74 countries had no minimum age at which e-cigarettes can be acquired, says the public health organization.
At the same time, tobacco consumption has been dropping - from an approximated 1.38 billion users in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.
Occurrence of tobacco consumption among females dropped the most - from 11% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2024.
For males, the decrease was from 41.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2024.
But 20% of grown-ups worldwide yet uses tobacco.
