Controversial US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation Concludes Relief Activities

The disputed, United States and Israel-funded GHF aid organization says it is concluding its humanitarian work in the affected area, subsequent to approximately 180 days.

The organisation had earlier paused its multiple aid distribution centers in Gaza subsequent to the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel came into force in recent weeks.

The organization attempted to circumvent United Nations channels as the chief distributor of relief to Palestinian residents.

International relief agencies declined to participate with its system, claiming it was questionable and hazardous.

The organization's top administrator, Jon Acree, additionally stated the United States-operated coordination body - which has been established to help carry out the American administration's Gaza initiative - would be "adopting and expanding the system the foundation tested".

"GHF's model, in which militant groups were prevented from misappropriating relief supplies, played a huge role in getting Hamas to the table and achieving a ceasefire."

Comments and Positions

The Palestinian faction - which refutes aid diversion claims - welcomed the closure of the aid organization, based on information.

An official from said the foundation should be subject to scrutiny for the harm it caused to Palestinians.

"We urge all international human rights organisations to make certain that consequences are faced after causing the death and injury of numerous Palestinians and concealing the nutritional restriction approach employed by the Israel's administration."

Organization Timeline

International human rights monitoring body reported it tracked the fatalities of no fewer than 859 Gazans attempting to obtain nourishment in the vicinity of GHF sites between 26 May and 31 July.

Another 514 people were fatally wounded around the courses followed by international humanitarian deliveries, it further stated.

Most of them were lost their lives due to the Israeli forces, as per the organization's documentation.

Contrasting Reports

Israeli defense forces claimed its soldiers had released alerting fire at persons who advanced toward them in a "menacing" manner.

The GHF said there were no firearm incidents at the relief locations and accused the UN of using "untrue and confusing" data from the Gazan medical department controlled by militant factions.

Ongoing Situation

The GHF's future had been indefinite since militant groups and the Israeli government approved a truce agreement to execute the first phase of Trump's peace plan.

It said relief provision would take place "absent meddling from the involved factions through the UN organizations and their partners, and the Red Crescent, in addition to other global organizations not connected in any way" with Hamas and Israel.

UN spokesperson the international body's communicator said on Monday that the foundation's closure would have "no influence" on its operations "because we never worked with them".

He also said that while more aid was getting into Gaza since the ceasefire took effect on 10 October, it was "inadequate to meet all the needs" of the 2.1 million population.
