Top-ranked Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Top Player Accolades.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive year.
The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.
A Season of High Performance
Throughout the year, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.
This past summer, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Achievements
Sabalenka ended the season with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and earned a historic £11m in tournament winnings.
She received nearly 80% of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.
On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".
Other WTA Award Winners
- Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking a 13-month break following the arrival of her first child and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
- Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18.
- Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
- Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five finals.
Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
