Tottenham Boss Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not True Real Supporters'
Fulham Start Strong to Beat Spurs and Increase Pressure on Frank
Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered keeper Vicario were informed later "they cannot be real Spurs fans" by boss Thomas Frank.
Tottenham let in two scores in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th Premier League home loss of 2025.
However the primary talking point was Fulham's next score when Vicario gave away possession far beyond his box.
He ventured out to deal with a high pass and carried the ball towards the sideline.
But, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italian turned and tried to clear, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.
King laid the ball off to Welsh midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a strike into the net from the sideline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.
Moments afterwards when the ball came to Vicario once more, some Tottenham supporters booed him.
Spurs were booed off at the interval, with the side 2-0 behind, and again at the final whistle.
One of those booing sessions truly angered Frank.
"I heard some of our fans apparently booed the situation and booed following, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Dane commented regarding the fans' reaction to his goalkeeper.
"Those individuals cannot be true Tottenham fans that do that. Alright booing following the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting each other, we are behind one another going forward."
Tete had given Fulham a early lead before Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an improved second-half performance.
Ex- Premier League keeper Hart remarked that the second goal was "completely avoidable".
"I certainly understand the supporters' frustration," Hart continued. "I know the part Vicario is performing. He's a great squad member, he's a true figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.
"He was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the winning score."
'It's Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'
Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match
Italy international the keeper is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.
The 29-year-old stated following the game that he had to accept the feedback.
"That goal was a error of my own, I take responsibility for that," he said.
"My aim was to kick the ball long and I simply struck the ball in a bad manner. It was an more difficult mountain to climb."
He stated receiving jeers "comes with football".
"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he continued. "We cannot be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do what they think.
"It is on the team to stay more composed, to concentrate on ourselves. We are missing in calmness and poise to overturn outcomes. This match is a poor loss and it's tough to take."
'I Was Surprised No One Returned to the Goal Line'
Despite Vicario's mistake, it was not an easy goal for Wilson to convert.
In fact it was the next longest-range Premier League goal of the campaign – following Tyler Adams' 43.3 yard strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which incidentally too occurred on Saturday.
The goalscorer said he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an empty goal to aim for.
Ten moments elapsed between Vicario coming out of his box and the midfielder striking – which was five moments after the kick.
"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was out of the box for ages," he remarked.
"It amazed me none of the defenders returned to the goal line. When none of them defended the net, my eyes sparked somewhat.
"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which allowed me a little extra time. Then it was all about trying to make the right connection and place it on target. I had a positive sense, as soon as it left my boot, that it was heading in."
'When You're in a Poor Run, Everything Appears to Go Against You'
Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - the Manager
Although Vicario's error led coverage, this was an all-round bad performance for Spurs to continue their home woes.
This was their 10th at home loss of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint club record along with 1994 and 2003.
The side still have home games against the manager's former club the Bees and champions the Reds to play before the close of the year.
Only one of those wins have occurred after the manager took over from Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.
"When you're down 2-0 following the opening, there is a huge challenge to overcome," stated the boss.
"During in a bad spell, everything seems to work against you as well – the first was a deflected attempt, the second is a mistake from the keeper.
"The outcome puts us in a position where we have lost an additional match. Each fixture has a unique narrative, this game we were defeated in the early stages.
"We just need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and hopefully something we can utilize to develop."
Spurs have been defeated in 4 straight at home capital clashes for the initial time in the top division.
Furthermore they are recording nine point five shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the division – their poorest averages on file in a one season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).
Ex- Cottagers midfield player Murphy stated that the manager has to endure the criticism.
"He's got take the stick," Murphy said. "He has taken a prestigious role at a huge team with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.
"The performances at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
